How it works
Every threshold is a fixed DANGO standard, not a ranking against anyone else. The only inputs are numbers logged on your Mac: turns, minutes, lines changed, and what the models cost.
How the four letters are decided
HHands-off/MMicro
A turn is hands-off when the AI makes at least 8 tool calls in a row on its own (editing a file, running a command and searching each count as one), or uses a subagent. More than 50% of all your turns hands-off → H. Otherwise → M.
BBuild/FFix
Lines written into newly created files ÷ all changed lines (added + deleted). More than 50% → B. Otherwise → F.
SSpecialist/GGeneralist
Split your dangos' work across the 8 crew roles by dollar value (each hidden role counts as one more). If 3 or more roles each take at least 10% → G. Otherwise → S.
LLark/OOwl
Using your Mac's local time: working minutes between 8 PM and 8 AM ÷ all working minutes. More than 50% → O. Otherwise → L.
- When the Hands-off, Build or Owl share lands between 45% and 55%, the card puts “≈” in front of the number: you're on the fence, and the letter still follows the rule above. Specialist / Generalist has no fence zone.
- Exactly 50% goes to the second letter (M / F / O), because the rule says “more than.”
How big is your company?
By the value of the work your dangos did. Fixed thresholds, not a ranking.- “Value of the work” = minutes of each kind of work × the US median hourly wage for that job (BLS data).
- Tiers use the running total from the scan. Nothing is annualized.
How ruthless are you?
margin = 1 − model cost ÷ value of the work- Only the ratio counts: a solo stall spending $5 on models can still be a Ruthless Boss.
- The card also shows leverage = value of the work ÷ model cost. Same thing, said the other way round.
Your crew · 8 roles
All coding work counts as Coder. Roles describe what the dangos are doing, not what kind of boss you are, and each role keeps its color wherever it ranks. The small dangos on the right are alternate looks for the same role.

- Generalist = 3 or more roles at 10%+ each. Pay is still worked out per job, at that job's own BLS wage.
